5-Minute Quick Start

Get your first book on your website in under 5 minutes!

Prerequisites

• WordPress 5.0 or higher

• PHP 7.0 or higher

• Admin access to your WordPress site

Step 1: Install AuthorKit Core (1 minute)

1. Log in to your WordPress admin panel

2. Navigate to Plugins → Add New

3. Search for "AuthorKit"

4. Click Install Now on "AuthorKit Core"

5. Click Activate

Core is now installed.

Step 2: Install AuthorKit for Books (1 minute)

1. Still on the Plugins → Add New page

2. Search for "AuthorKit for Books"

3. Click Install Now

4. Click Activate

Books module is now ready.

Step 3: Add Your First Book (2 minutes)

1. In your WordPress admin, look for AuthorKit for Books in the sidebar

2. Click Add New Book

3. Fill in the basics:

   • Title: Your book's title

   • Description: Your book blurb (in the main editor)

   • Book Cover: Click "Set featured image" and upload your cover

4. Scroll down to the Book Details meta box

5. Fill in key information:

   • ISBN/ASIN

   • Publication Date

   • Pages

   • Price (e.g., $2.99)

6. Add Purchase Links:

   • Amazon URL

   • Other retailer URLs

7. Click Publish

Your first book is live.

Step 4: View Your Book (30 seconds)

1. Click the View Book link after publishing

2. Your book will display with all the information you entered

3. Beautiful Amazon-style layout automatically applied!

Step 5: Display Books on Your Site (30 seconds)

Add a book grid to any page/post:

1. Edit any page or post

2. Add this shortcode:

   [authorkit_books count="6" columns="3"]

3. Update/Publish the page

4. View your page to see your books in a grid!

Your books are now showcased on your site.
